- The World Affairs Council was created in 1947 out of the interest generated by the founding of the United Nations in San Francisco in 1945. The Council offers a forum where diverse audiences engage in critical issues that inform their actions. The Council and its program, the Global Philanthropy Forum, share the conviction that individuals are not only capable of advancing human security, environmental stewardship, and improved quality of life, but that they must.
